Creating Annotations

Annotations allow you to “link” image or text highlights to other specific text documents in DM. You can create a textual annotation for a specific image or text highlight, or you can link a highlight to an annotation you’ve already made for another highlight.

Note: these video examples are for image highlights, but the same feature applies on text (yellow) highlights

To create an annotation:

  1. Click on a highlight to open the highlight frame.
  2. Click the pencil icon in the top-left corner of the highlight frame.
  3. This will open a new and blank text annotation adjacent to the document you are editing.
  4. Provide a title for this annotation by selecting the “New annotation . . .” text in the annotation’s title bar and typing over it.

When you create a new annotation on a highlight, that highlight is instantly linked to this new annotation:

You can also create an annotation on an entire document by using its “corner icon”:

  1. Click the page icon in the top-right corner of a document.
  2. Click the pencil icon in the top-left corner of the highlight frame.

Now your entire document links to this new annotation:

Multiple annotations will appear in alphabetical order in a highlight’s rollover window. If you wish to change the order of these annotations, you can arrange the order by retitling your annotations:
