Externally Linking to Project Documents & Displays
Inside a DM project, users can open up a set of documents and then create customized links for others to be able to open up the same set of documents.
-
When a text or image document is opened for display,it generates a unique URL that then displays in the browser URL window (see above). Opening up additional text or image documents will add additional sections to the displayed URL. That URL can then be copied and used as an external link that can be embedded in other websites and digital publications. Clicking on such a link will then open up the DM project and all of the originally displayed documents.
-
You can also click on the "Share" button (see above) for any displayed document to generate a link for that specific document. If the shared document is an annotation of the parent document, the link will be for both the annotation and the highlight it is annotating on the parent document (e.g. a link for an annotation for an image highlight on an image will open both the text annotation and the image it annotates.)
-
You can also build your own extended link URLs for multiple text and image displays. For each additional displayed document you wish to include, add "&document=[DOC ID]" to the URL string; you can get the [DOC ID] for any displayed document via from the share button:
So, for example, a url to display four individual images and texts inside a project would look like this (click to open):
https://uw.digitalmappa.org/58?document=8560&document=8612&document=8557&document=8507
